Master Gardener Plant Sale-Garden to Go!

By Debbie Roland and Shirley Davenport, Master Gardeners

The Permian Basin Master Gardener Plant Sale is back and better than ever! April 13 is the date but the location has changed to Building A at the Ector County Coliseum. The doors will open at 9 a.m. There is usually a line so be there early!

There will be a new format this year. If you have ever wondered “I have no idea where to start or what to plant for the look I want,” this year is for you. Our plants will still be displayed in rows and separated as before into annuals, perennials, grasses, herbs, etc.

However, this year we will also separate the plants into displays for specific type gardens that require the same watering and care needs. For instance, the plants for an herb garden will be grouped together; a perennial bed will be grouped together, shade loving plants, ornamental grasses and pollinator gardens, etc. Butterflies, hummingbirds, and/or bees will be grouped together so you can find those plants specifically. You simply buy those plants and put them in the spot at your house that accommodates them! Viola! Instant Garden to Go!

The Ask a Master Gardener booth will be manned with gardeners to answer questions and point you in the direction of plants you are looking for.

As always, there will be handouts with composting, mulching and planting information and some that will direct you to Texas A&M AgriLife websites that contain valuable information.

SEE YOU AT THE PLANT SALE!!!

Please contact the AgriLife office in Odessa at 498-4071 or in Midland at 686-4700 for more gardening information.
